MOSCOW, May 4 (RIA Novosti) - Galina Rusanova, a Britain-based Russian artist, faces charges in the United States after allegedly attacking crewmembers when drunk on a flight from Los Angeles, British media reported on Monday. The plane, which was headed for London last Wednesday, had to be diverted to Maine after the disturbance, the Press Association said. The agency cited prosecutors as saying Rusanova, 54, began behaving aggressively after taking a cocktail of wine, prescription medicine and liquid soap. When restrained by air stewards, she lashed out, kicking and punching them. Prosecutors told a court hearing in Bangor, Maine on Friday that at one point Rusanova fell to the floor "snapping like a dog." She will attend a district court hearing on Monday, on charges of assault and interfering with a flight crew. According to the Daily Mail, which said Rusanova is "known in Britain as a respected artist, actress and author," she was interviewed by FBI agents after the incident, and explained to them: "It"s typical of me. I sometimes do crazy things." Rusanova told the FBI that she took the pills and alcohol due to her fear of flying, but remembers little of the incident. A flight attendant reportedly witnessed her sucking on a bottle of liquid soap taken from the plane"s lavatory.

Joseph Stalin"s grandson has called on Ukraine...

A court in Kiev last week found Stalin and other Bolshevik leaders guilty of genocide against Ukrainians during the 1932-1933 famine, which Ukraine has sought to be recognized internationally.

Yevgeny Dzhugashvili, known for a series of court battles in Russia to protect his honor over accusations against his grandfather, has sent a letter to Ukraine"s prosecutor general saying such "false charges" could only have come from Stalin"s "main foe" Hitler rather than a democratic state, Sehodnya newspaper reported.

He said genocide was only introduced in Ukraine"s criminal code in the 1990s so could only be applied in trying cases of modern leaders like former President Leonid Kuchma and current President Viktor Yushchenko.

"Security Council officials [who investigated the case] and court judges cynically violated the European Convention of Human Rights, which says no one can be convicted for deeds that were not legally a crime when they were committed," Dzhugashvili
