MOSCOW, May 4 (RIA Novosti) - Galina Rusanova, a Britain-based Russian artist, faces charges in the United States after allegedly attacking crewmembers when drunk on a flight from Los Angeles, British media reported on Monday. The plane, which was headed for London last Wednesday, had to be diverted to Maine after the disturbance, the Press Association said. The agency cited prosecutors as saying Rusanova, 54, began behaving aggressively after taking a cocktail of wine, prescription medicine and liquid soap. When restrained by air stewards, she lashed out, kicking and punching them. Prosecutors told a court hearing in Bangor, Maine on Friday that at one point Rusanova fell to the floor "snapping like a dog." She will attend a district court hearing on Monday, on charges of assault and interfering with a flight crew. According to the Daily Mail, which said Rusanova is "known in Britain as a respected artist, actress and author," she was interviewed by FBI agents after the incident, and explained to them: "It"s typical of me. I sometimes do crazy things." Rusanova told the FBI that she took the pills and alcohol due to her fear of flying, but remembers little of the incident. A flight attendant reportedly witnessed her sucking on a bottle of liquid soap taken from the plane"s lavatory.

Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko briefed the prime minister on his recent visit to Iran, where he visited the Bushehr facility and participated in a meeting of the Russian-Iranian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.

Shmatko toured the reactor site earlier this week with Ali Akbar Salehi, the new head of the country"s Atomic Energy Organization. Following his inspection, the Russian energy minister said he expected the plant to be ready soon.

The launch date has been postponed many times over financial and technical reasons. Iran has claimed that Russia was reluctant to finish the facility due to UN sanctions, and concerns voiced by world powers that the plant is part of a covert nuclear weapons program.

During the meeting with Putin, Shmatko discussed the approaches of the Russian delegation at the forthcoming meeting in Qatar of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.
